There are thousands of arts managers, artists and trustees in the field who are passionate and devoted to their organizations, committed to bringing artists and audiences together in meaningful and successful experiences for all involved. Many of the professional practitioners - especially those who are early in their career paths - desire more management training or seek to polish their existing skills but they are unable to take advantage of existing seminars, workshops or management degree programs because of time constraints or limited human or financial resources. eSeminArts is designed to provide rigorous training and development opportunities through a CDrom/Internet interactive delivery system that is flexible enough to be undertaken without negative impact on the participant's arts organization.

eSeminArts will enlarge the professional development opportunities available to arts and service organization with limited resources by allowing them to participate in these seminars at their home or office, eliminating the barriers associated with transportation, housing and perdiem costs. At the same time, through the use of CD-ROM and interactive Internet based communications, these seminars will provide artists, managers, board members, or students high-quality learning experiences, access to some fo the brightest minds in the field today, and ongoing invaluable management resources.

Over the next few years, eSeminArts will become a fully developed curriculum of serious and effective distance-learning courses covering many of the key management functions:

eSeminArts will be assisted in curriculum development by an advisory committee of leading performing arts professionals from the music, theatre, dance and presenting disciplines. Advisory board members will aid the project partners by identifying key issues for training, recommending faculty and others to lead the courses, promoting the courses to their peers, and assisting in the evaluation of the results.

Courses will be structured and scheduled to reach early to mid-career managers, artists and trustees of widely diverse organizations and agencies. Diversity variables will include the ethnicity of the trainees, arts disciplines, geographic locations, budget sizes, programming activities, target audiences and related constituents of the organizations.
